Director, Research & Projects
Vibin is a Director in the Research & Projects team at the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation and the co-lead for GCMD’s ammonia as a marine fuel initiative.
Prior to joining GCMD, he was a Principal Engineer (Sustainability) at the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), where he spearheaded several industry-wide decarbonisation strategies, which also included him as a key working member of Singapore's first methanol bunkering operation. His diverse experience encompasses undertaking pivotal roles in shipyards, overseeing machinery overhauling, piping repairs, and mechanical workshop management, and showcasing expertise across multiple facets of the marine industry.
Vibin has close to two decades of experience in the marine and offshore industry. He is a seasoned professional specialising in alternative fuels initiatives; his expertise includes developing standards and conducting safety studies for ammonia and methanol bunkering, assessing their risks, consequences, and response strategies.
Vibin is a member of the Working Group for Methanol Bunkering, part of Singapore Standards Council’s Chemical Standards Committee and also a member of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science, and Technology (IMarEST).He has a Master's degree in Marine Technology from Newcastle University and a first class Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Mahatma Gandhi University.
Outside of the office, Vibin likes to hit the courts for a good game of tennis.
